Global ‘s genetics performed very well for several other studs by producing 2 Champion rams and 1 Reserve Champion ram. Global’s own ram, Ponting was Reserve Champion ram at the NSW show in Dubbo, May 2013.
GLOBAL’s genetics exceeds all expectations! Lambs from our two sires, Bradman and Man of War, have performed very well at the Bendigo Show and the National Show in Dubbo for Global Dorpers as well as for other studs. A ram lamb from Bradman was crowned Junior Champion Ram in Bendigo and nine lambs from Bradman and Man of War were nominated in the 6 lamb classes. A ewe lamb from Bradman took out first place in the under 55kg class and a ram lamb from Man of War took a third place in the under 50kg class. Bradman was placed second in the 4 tooth ram class.
Global Dorpers is grateful to report that we had a very successful NSW Dorper Sheep Show. We showed 10 animals in 6 classes and were awarded 5 first prizes, 2 second prizes and 1 third prize. One of our rams, Going, was crowned first in his class, the Champion senior ram, Grand champion ram and eventually as the Supreme Dorper Exhibit. Going, an embryo ram, was born from new genetics imported to Australia from South Africa before the closure of embryo importation. He is from the Gobi line. Going is smaller than the usual rams produced by Global but with near perfect confirmation. See photo gallery.
Global Dorpers had a most successful National Show in Dubbo. In our first ever national show we were crowned Most Successful Exhibitor 2011. Our two junior rams Punter and Man-of-War, were judged Junior Champion Ram and Reserve Junior Champion Ram 2011.
Global’s 4–tooth ram, Gilchrist, fetched the highest price at the sale of $33 000. He was sold to a Brazilian breeder from Sao Paulo. We wish them well and trust that Gilchrist will produce outstanding progeny.
Global Dorpers exhibits the senior and grand champion ram, which became THE SUPREME DORPER EXHIBIT OF THE NSW STATE SHEEP SHOW. The champion ram, Gilchrist, sired by Diesel has according to the judge great presence and stood perfectly.
Unfortunately the imports of genetic material from South Africa is suspended due to the outbreak of Foot-and Mouth disease in KwaZulu-Natal province in South Africa. We trust that this halt on imports will be a temporary measure.
Global Dorpers was not able to participate in the National Dorper Show in Dubbo this year. Unfortunately the Brucellosis test for our property was not completed in time. However, 9 of our top rams stood at All Stock in Dubbo during the show period where they were viewed and some sold. We wish the buyers of our rams much success and outstanding offsprings.
