GLG has strong links with the South African Dorper community. Leon, director involved in genetic management, is working from his farm “Mons” in the very center of South Africa, the home of the Dorper. Mons is situated about 300km from Grootfontein where the Dorper breed originated in the early 1950's. Several well known breeders are using the genetic material of the Dorsland Dorper stud which is the main provider of genetic material to Global Livestock Genetics. Founder Directors: Leon van Niekerk Owner of the Dorsland Dorper Stud in South Africa, Council member of the Dorper Sheep Breeders’ Society of South Africa and involved in the Industry for many years. Leon has the cunning ability to match male and female genetic material from different sources to produce multiple award winning Dorpers. He is therefore the logical choice to be in charge of the genetics management of the company. Kenoes and Cecile van Lill Kenoes is a medical practitioner in Bourke, NSW, Australia and acts as production manager of the company. Cecile acts as secretary of GLG. They are the owners of the farm "Sonvanger”, about 30km south of Bourke, adjacent to the Kidman Way which is home to the stud “Global Dorpers”. Jannie Koch is an Agricultural Economist and management specialist from South Africa. He played a major role in the initial development of GLG. Jannie has since left the company. |
